Also you can put lotion on it preferably without an alcohol in the lotion or else it will burn. Use Aquaphor, or a little bit of carmex. You can also try vitamin A & D ointment. You can also try putting some creams like; Vaseline, and some skin creams. You should also for the sake of your cold sore, cut back on your acidic foods orange juice tomato sauce and so on! Go to the grocery store the spice Isle and get some ELM! Use Q-tip It stings at first but it naturally Numb it up good.

When is it time for carmex in a cold sore?

I use abreva but…Should I use carmex because my cold sore seems to be all dried up…when I come out of the shower with it there is a big layer of yellowish white stuff on it…what do i do.

well i suffer bery bad from coldsore most of the creams on the market dont work for me coz my cold sore has come immune to it… i use 3 methods for getting a cold sore gone….
1. put some ice on it…. alot so ur lips are so numb u cant stand it
2. put some toothpaste on it over night (best is aim toothpaste)
3.as bad as it sounds metholated spirt works the best it stings for a litlle but its the best and quickest way to get rid of a cold sore just put a bit on a cotton bud and dab it on ur coldsore
the last one works the best because a cold sore is a blister and u need to dry it out and the metho does that the quickest
