1. Drives on Sundays
This is a true story
was young as was the day,
Mom, Dad and I would go for a cruise
Through the tree’s we would ride,
Soon we would visit the ocean tides,
Long trips were all apart of a Sunday,
“Jump in the car” Dad would say,
We would jump in the car with no place in mind,
Only an inspiration to find our fixation in line,
Sometimes we would drive in the mountain trees,
Or the ocean breeze, every Sunday was at ease,
Now, times have changed, Sundays aren’t
The same, no more unplanned drives,
To be able to afford it would only be a lie,
We have no more Sunday drives.
Stick to prose. This may seem like poetry to you, but to other people it’s “something like a poem.” Clarity. If you can’t be clear and poetic at the same time? Put it down in prose, first. Then it will be clearer to you as to how to make it poetic.
