Care for Feminine Itching with Over-the-Counter Medicines
When deciding how to treat a feminine itch problem, it is important to know what is causing it. There are a wide range of possibilities from excess sweating to sexually transmitted diseases. Before using an over-the-counter anti-itch medicine, it’s a good idea to let a doctor check you to determine the cause of your itching.
Moisture is a very common cause of feminine itching. Not changing your clothes after exercising or hanging out in a wet bathing suit can cause vaginal itching. It is important to always put on dry clothes after swimming or exercising to keep moisture away. Wearing cotton underwear will also help. Relief Anti Itch Questions
I’m fostering a 4 yr old golden and he has been limping when we walk on cement. ?
He seems to be ok walking and running on grass. Could it be that he is not used to cement? And, this is causing the soreness and small abrasions? Some anti-itch/relief spray helps him not lick. I’m worried it could be worse.
Make sure the cement is not hot. I live in Florida and we have to be very careful when walking our dogs on cement.
What is good for a horrible itch?
I’ve been going to the tanning bed for almost a week now, I know it’s bad and I should stop but I rarely get in the sun and I hardly ever go to the tanning bed. But anyway, I’ve started to get this rash I guess on my butt. Its like right at the top where it gets most of the pressure from my weight on it. I tan naked most of the time, but tomorrow I’m definitely going to wear a bathing suit bottom. However, I need relief NOW. I can’t get up and go to the store right now to buy any topical anti itch creams or anything, and it’s none around the house. I need to know if anyone knows of something I can put on it to make it stop itching so bad, its absolutely horrible. I’ve put a ton of lotion of it, including some aloe vera and nothing seems to be helping any. Please somebody, this is horrible.
Sounds like a rash or prickly heat.
First off, you could be allergic to the cleaning product the salon is using – might do your own wipe-down with a damp towel prior to laying down. If that doesn’t help, you are likely getting a heat rash or are allergic to UV (more common than you’d think).
Since you are stuck at home, you might try one of these home remedies:
Baking soda can be used in cool bath water to soothe other skin irritations and alleviate itching from prickly heat, bee stings, insect bites, and other minor skin ailments.
Make an oatmeal paste and apply to affected area.
Apply Aloe Vera, cod liver oil, lemon juice, vitamin E oil, wheat germ oil, or witch hazel tea to the itchy area.
Cornstarch helps relieve itching. You can pour some into your bath water or dust it onto your body.
Scrub the affected area lightly with a pumice stone. Then wash with soap, apply rubbing alcohol, and dab a thick layer of Vaseline over it. This will provide relief from itching.
Unfortunately, none of these will work as well as medicated itch creams or Benadryl, but they may help some.
